MISTAKEN CAPE
(Intermediate / Advanced)
15m - 50m
Passing the bluff of Mt Bishop & Clerk on the Northern end of the Island sees Maria transform dramatically. Sheer Sedimentary Limestone and Sandstone cliffs give way to massive granite boulders. It is truly a breathtaking site to see the coloured granite cliffs of Mistaken Cape lit up in a glow by the morning summer sun. Diving underneath these granite formations is regarded by many as their favourite dive in Tasmania, a sentiment few Tassie divers could argue.

Renowned for her exquisite beauty, Maria Island is home to a vast array of historic and natural wonders. Such wonders include mountainous ranges, who's shear rugged cliffs spill into the sea, an exquisite coastline so colourful it could have been hand painted by Dreamtime aborigines and numerous white sandy beaches so isolated they give the impression of being on a deserted island. All of Maria's beauty can be experienced in one day on the Island, making it an ideal location for day-tripping tourists.
To compliment the physical beauty Maria Island is renowned for, the Island also offers some of the best temperate water snorkelling and diving in Australia. The establishment of a marine protected area (MPA) along the North Western shore of the Island, between Darlington and Point Lasseur, had created a unique underwater wilderness, untouched and pristine. Come within touching distance of monstrous Southern Rock Lobster (Tassie Crayfish) and giant Black Lipped Abalone. See an abundance of marine life not normally seen in similar shallow rocky reefs. Experience all of this right underneath the rugged mountain forests and white sandy beaches of Maria Island.

We believe our customers deserve the most comfortable and safest dive charter we can provide. By offering guided dives, a trained and experienced Dive Master (DM) will be present for those wishing to have the benefit of diving with a dive professional. This is a great opportunity for divers with less experience to explore new and exciting dive locations. If you are comfortable diving without a DM, we are more than happy for you to dive your own profile.
